Directs the activities of the Health Information Department including the current paper medical records and the transition to an electronic medical record. Also responsible for coding, compliance, and transcription services. Develops and maintains standards to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding medical records, including content, storage, reporting and accessibility. The right candidate must consider the department to be a service department, serving the health information needs of all internal and external customers. Must have formal education in Medical Records sciences or a combination of education and directly related work experience; accredited or registered, based on successful completion of examination requirements of AHIMA; must have two years of supervisory experience in Health Information Management.
