This is a corporate position. Can work from home but must be near an airport as travel is 40%. Prefer BS or BSN; graduate degree preferred; 5-7 years doing physician coding audits and 3 years working with physicians to correct coding and documentation issues with demonstrated success. Additional experience with hospital coding is a plus. CPC required along with Knowledge of Medicare regulations and OIG Advisory opinions. Consulting and clinical experience preferred. Experience with Meditech electronic health records a plus.

Position will consult with physicians regarding accurate documentation and assist with the identification of procedures that ensure all charges are captured and entered in a timely fashion. Extremely generous benefits package and competitive pay rate with 15% bonus potential.

The CD Specialist is responsible for facilitating improvement in the overall quality, completeness and accuracy of medical record documentation, as well as obtaining and promoting appropriate documentation through extensive interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other patient caregivers, and HIM coding staff in order to ensure clinical documentations reflects the severity of the patient's illness and results in appropriate reimbursement. Educates members of the patient care team on documentation guidelines on an ongoing basis.

Current MA RN license required with 5 yrs RN experience in adult medical/surgical, critical care, emergency department utilization/case management preferred or RHIA, or RHIT with CCS required with 5 yrs experience in ICD-9-CM and CPT coding, DRG assignment and project management. Should understand revenue cycle management and have knowledge of IS and interfaces. Solid communication and interpersonal skills desired.

This is a new “start-up” facility and as such will work with CFO to jump start the organization. Position serves as a liaison with administration, patient accounts, finance, HIM, compliance, charge capture, and regulatory updates. Must have had compliance role in consulting firm, health care system or hospital. Experience with electronic health records a plus. Must be familiar with HCPCS, CPT and ICD-9-CM codes, revenue codes and federal and state regulations and laws. This is a corporate position which may require some travel as backup to the hospitals.
